Weddings are all about making dreams come true. Included in that process is the ability to suggest fresh ideas that will create memories of a lifetime. Since we’re right at the start of an exciting 2015 wedding season, this is the perfect opportunity to gauge this year’s most exciting trends.
1. The Non Traditional Wedding
Out with the old, in with the new. Plated courses and all-white attire and linens aren’t the only way to celebrate a union this year. For this wedding at the Santa Monica Pier produced by AOO Events, the bride chose to wear her own style of wedding gown. Guests were treated to unique hors d’oeuvres and buffet menu by Good Gracious! Events, which gave everyone an opportunity to mix and mingle instead of sitting down for a coursed meal.
2. Pops of color
Summer is the perfect time for warmer colors. Here, AOO Floral really thought outside the box to create fresh vibrant arrangements. The colors went really well with the carnival theme, and brightened an already perfect day.
3. Dessert Stations
One consistent trend I’ve seen is couples foregoing the traditional cake cutting. Instead the dessert station is set up for all to indulge and couples may opt to share a gourmet cupcake instead. For this wedding, the dessert was the icing on the cake, or rather, the icing on the lollipop!
4. Non-Alcoholic Specialty Bars
In California, the trend toward lactose-intolerant, gluten-free, and alcohol-free menus is as prevalent on the red carpet as it is at weddings. For guests who aren’t able to indulge in alcohol, a smoothie or specialty drink station is the perfect alternative. This type of service lets your guests know you’re catering to them, which makes the celebration even more fun for all.
As summer moves along and things start to heat up, check back for more summer wedding trends worth highlighting. Until then, have a wonderful week full of design inspiration!
