A modern day fusion of cultures while showcasing design perfection. Thrilled to share this wedding! – David Merrell.
When Niki and Erik approached wedding planner Kerrie Underhill (Platinum Weddings by Kerrie) they initially had some pretty distinct ideas about the color palette for their wedding. Their choice of coral and gray with shades of white mixed in seamlessly. Beyond that the couple remained totally open to ideas and eager to plan. Since their wedding was a wonderful fusion of both of their cultures and backgrounds- Niki being Indian, Erik hailing from a Jewish family- the planners knew the day would be unique and unlike any other wedding.
” We were able to play around a bit with their palette and vary the look of the multiple events by embracing elements of both cultures and incorporating two different ceremonies into the day,” says Underhill. The Indian ceremony was filled with vibrant colors and a traditional set-up at the entrance of the ceremony. This is where the priest performed the ceremony rituals with the couple’s family participating in the festivities.
After the ceremony, there was lunch al fresco featuring Indian cuisine, so the planners aimed to keep the design light and bright with rich peach linens, bright white florals, and small peacock statues on tables for guests to enjoy. Later on, the couple’s Jewish ceremony was kept clean and bright with white draping and florals adorning the arbor which acted as their chuppah. When guests finally entered the ballroom they were greeted with vibrant lighting, rich gray linens, and beautiful ombre centerpieces of varying heights and compositions. Overall their day exuded the incredible energy the two have as a couple, and was an absolutely perfect celebration of their love.
