This season it is all about mixed seating. Wedding trends have been known to come and go throughout the years and return with a slightly different twist. In 2016, here is one trend that is mixing things up by mixing and matching seating in a different way to enhance the guest experience. Many event producers have begun using this trend as a major design element.
One recent social event took the designer’s cue to stray from the norm and incorporate a variety of seating options. For this wedding, designer/producer POP Kollaborative chose sofas, benches, a variety of formal dining and club chairs to create a seamless look with their décor partner Décor & More. The intention was to stay away from uniformity and create a chic, contemporary, and comfortable look.
According to DesignDawgs publisher David Merrell, “The mixed seating trend has become one of the biggest to watch this year.” According to Merrell, designers can begin to rely on innovation, creativity and a ton of new styles that are being introduced to the industry by event rental and furniture companies. “It sure beats that traditional seating request ‘I’ll take 200 Chivari chairs please,’” said Merrell.
