Event Pros Take Action: Forces of Nature

by David E. Merrell

Every once in a while, you come across one of those events that is full of inspiration. Forces of Nature is one such event. It is a collaboration between a stellar group of event design-firms along with prominent event sponsors, all from the Pittsburgh area. The event is full of design inspiration and the eye candy is truly a feast for the eyes. What makes the Forces of Nature event even more inspiring is the fact that it is a fundraiser born created by a group of event professionals who simply seek to make a difference in the world. From this group, the fundraising project Event Pros Take Action (EPTA) was born.

One individual who is the founder of EPTA and who has been the driving force keeping this project alive and thriving, is Susie Perelman owner of Party Mosaic. Not only has she tirelessly championed this event, she has already created a legacy that will live on for a long time. According to Susie, the collaboration behind the Forces of Nature event truly reminds us why it is important to work together. “Forces of Nature was an event industry partnership like no other. We dreamed big, worked together and made magic for our city. While many of our participating companies are competitors for other events, on this occasion they brainstormed together for the greater good. Everyone wanted to ensure the success of the night to help EPTA. We proved that collaboration is the key to greatness,” says Susie.

Forces of Nature’s “Color Our World” event.

Most recently on March 5, Forces of Nature held their annual event, this time titled Color Our World. The event was an evening of design, decor, food and entertainment for over 600 guests. Pittsburgh design companies; The Event GroupTK Events StudioShayla Hawkins EventsJoe Mineo Creative and Luxe Creative came together to transform five sections within a raw space donated by Bakery Square 2.0. Known as “niches,” each area boasted a designated color featuring decor, food, libations and entertainment. The event was sponsored by Walnut Capital, Bakery Square 2.0, All Occasions Party Rental, Marbella Event Furniture and Décor Rental, Party Mosaic, and CSR-Colortone Staging and Rentals, providing stunning elements for each niche.

Events such as Forces of Nature: Color Our World prove that EPTA has become a significant movement within the Special Events Industry, by giving back to many families in need. Susie and all the event professionals who give generously of their time are an absolute inspiration to me. I am lucky enough to have been able to participate in these heartwarming projects, when AOO Events designed and produced one of the events around The EPTA Weekend in New Orleans last summer. Because of that experience, I will always be inspired to give back through EPTA because of the important work that they do. I feel lucky because I have made long lasting friends in the industry, that I am honored to know as I respect their work. And I am lucky to call Susie my friend!

Beyond the ‘eye candy’ inspiration, please take a moment to learn more about  EPTA as I truly believe you may be inspired to get involved as well.
