The sunny beaches of California and consistent 80 degrees weather is enticing to all, so it’s no surprise that Southern California is a key destination resort for both personal and business affairs. Earlier this year AOO Events took its design inspiration from the ocean, bringing fresh California flair to a FAM trip at Terranea Resort sponsored by GMITE: Global Meeting and Incentive Travel Exchanges and hosted by AlliedPRA, the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board and Terranea Resort.
In creating this event we wanted to stay true to the resort. Terranea Resort is an oasis in the hustle and bustle of the big cities which border it. As such, the allure of its space is its eco-luxury environment.
In keeping with this style of design, we created a “fireplace” to bring warmth and comfort to an outdoor seating area. The objective was to add the beauty of live flames without having to use Sterno-based portable fireplaces. Our creative and effective solution was a hurricane glass pillar candle box that rested on flat cut logs (which also served as coasters), on a bed of green moss and river rock and wrapped in distressed brown snake skin.
As night began to set, the menu board was set in place to draw guests in. A framed chalkboard and stencil was simply presented and a perfect measure to illustrate Terranea’s farm-to-table menu concept.
Our production and color scheme reflected GMite’s branding (a purple and gold logo), as well as the personality of Terranea Resort. Rather than recreating the space, we embraced the luxury, eco-friendly, and oceanfront ambiance Terranea offered and designed to complement the character of the venue we were occupying.
